The Acoustical Foundation (India) recognizes achievements in Acoustics by presenting series of Awards/Honors

1. Mira Paul Memorial Award

         i.            Prof. M. L. Munjal (President of ASI *1999-2000), an internationally renowned Acoustician,  Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, received the first Mira Paul memorial award on March 8, 2000 at IIT Madras, Chennai, Tamilnadu

         ii.           Prof. Sadaoki Furui (President of ASJ *2001-2002 & President of International Speech Communication Association *2001-2002), Internationally renowned Speech Communication Scientist at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan, received the Second Mira Paul memorial Award on October 18, 2001 at VIT, Vellore, Tamilnadu

      iii.            Dr. Stanley L. Ehrlich (President *1996-1997 & Associate Editor of the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America) received the third Mira Paul memorial Gold Medal on October 18, 2001 at VIT, VelloreTamilnadu for his contribution to the formation of the first International Chapter of the ASA in India and his suggestion to form the Acoustical Foundation of India.

      iv.            Prof. Richard H. Lyon (President*1993-1994 of ASA), President of R. H. Lyon Corp, USA received the fourth Mira Paul memorial Gold Medal for his humanitarian behavior and inventor of Statistical Phase Analysis on October 31, 2003 at ARAI, Pune, Maharastra

        v.            Prof. A. H. Marshall (Founder President Acoustical Society of New Zeeland), Group consultant of Marshall-day Acoustics Ltd, New Zeeland received the Fifth Mira Paul Memorial Gold Medal for his contribution in Architectural Acoustics on 19 February 2006 at Chennai

      vi.            Dr. M. Kumaresan ( President of Association of Peadiatric Otolaryngitis of India (APOI), past President of MIRC-ASA),Director of International Research Institute for the Deaf will be receiving Mira Paul memorial Gold Medal for his contribution in ENT and Cofounder of IRID on 22 December 2008 at NSTL, Visakhapatnam, A.P.

2. Stanley Ehrlich Award

i.                    Prof. B. V.A. Rao (President of ASJ * 2003-2004). an Internationally renowned Acoustician, Velloere Institute of Technology, Vellore received the first Stanley Ehrlich Gold Medal on 25 November 2004 at SJCE, Mysore, Karnataka

ii.                  Dr. Baldev Raj (Distinguished Scientist & Director of Indira Gandhi Center for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam) received Stanley Ehrlich Gold Medal on 5 December 2007 at KSRCT, Tiruchengode, T.N..

iii.                Prof. Allan D. Pierce (Editor-in-Chief of The Acoustical Society of America) received Third Stanley Ehrlich Gold Medal on 5 December 2007 at KSRCT, Tiruchengode, T.N.

3. Honorary Fellowship   

    i.   Prof. Richard  H. Lyon elected Honorary Fellow of the Acoustical Foundation for his invention of Statistical Phase Analysis on October 26, 2003 at Chennai

4. Raman-Chandrasekhar Inter disciplinary Silver Medal

         i.            Dr. Baldev Raj, Director of Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam-603102 was Chief Guest of Acoustical Foundation and he  received first Raman-Chandrasekhar Interdisciplinary Silver Medal in Acoustics on November25, 2004 at SJCE, Mysore, Karnataka

5. Silver Medals to its Members    

         i.            Prof. C. P. Vendhan received the first Interdisciplinary Silver Medal in Acoustics on October17, 2000 at Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar, Haryana.

        ii.            Prof. B. V. A. Rao received the first Silver Medal in Noise on September 29, 2002 at R. M. K. Engineering College, Kaveraipettai, Tamilnadu

      iii.            Dr. M. Kumaresan received the first Silver Medal in Bioresponse to Vibration on September 29, 2002 at R. M. K. Engineering College, Kaveraipettai, Tamilnadu.

      iv.            Prof. Deepak K. Prasher, University College London, U. K. received the first Silver Medal  in Speech Communication on September 29, 2002 at  R. M. K. Engineering College, Kaveraipettai, Tamilnadu.

        v.            Dr. S. S. Agrawal, Emeritus Scientists (CSIR), Former Scientist G & Head CEERI received second Silver Medal in Speech Communication on  November25, 2004 at SJCE, Mysore, Karnataka

      vi.            Prof. S. Narayanan, Dean of Academic Research, Indian Institute of Technology received first Silver Medal in Structural Acoustics and Vibration on  November25, 2004 at SJCE, Mysore, Karnataka

     vii.            Dr. Bishwajit Chakraborty, Scientist, National Institute of Goa, Dona Paula, Goa  received  first Silver Medal in Underwater Acoustics on  November 25, 2004 at SJCE, Mysore, Karnataka

   viii.            Dr. V. Bhujanga Rao, Director of Naval Science & Technology, Visakhapatnam received second Silver Medal in Structural Acoustics and Vibration on December 15, 2005 at NAL, Bangalore, Karnataka

      ix.            Prof. A. Ramachandraiah, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Madras will be receiving first Silver Medal in Architectural Acoustics on 22 December 2008 at NSTL, Visakhapatnam,, A.P.

5. Distinguished Service Citation Awards to its Members

6. Acousticians who will receive awards will be elected Fellows of Acoustical Foundation

7. Donors of Rupees one million will be presented Silver Medal and two million will be presented Gold Medal in Technical Sessions. (a)Stanley L. Ehrlich is the first recipient of this Silver Medal.
